CORONA Ion tweeter
This exceptional driver is the core of every Lansche loudspeaker and in our opinion far superior to the other tweeter concepts in every aspect. Even its extravagant pinspot concept enables a true-to-original sound which you will hardly believe to be possible.

A membrane not bogged down by mass but direct excitation and utilization of the air itself as the medium of transmission. It produces the necessary acoustic pressure at high efficiency (99dB/1W/1m). No other tweeter system has such speed and hence such perfect impulse and phase response in the audible range. Reproduction of higher frequency ranges appears perfectly smooth, without even a hint of jarring. This is due to its worldwide unrivaled capability of not allowing any resonances in the entire working range of 1.5kHz to 150kHz. In this Ion tweeter, the striking transparency and dispersal of even the finest tonal textures are real and not as a result of any artificial overemphasizing by targeted “resonance tricks”.

Midrange speaker
Because we were unable to find a suitable chassis on the world market that would be fast enough, we developed our own 20-centimeter midrange to supplement the CORONA.

Thanks to its hard, almost motionless suspension, the powerful Neodinium magnet, and the extremely light (only 8 grams) coated Omniex membrane, it never loses its “connection” and offers the perfect complement with respect to its resonance and distortion behavior. As a wideband system, it also provides a perfectly phase-optimized crossover network using just two components of highest quality. With their significantly more sluggish tweeter systems, other manufacturers are not faced with this kind of adjustment challenge. Thanks to our uncompromising approach, we achieve a higher overall level in all frequency ranges.

Basses
Two side-positioned 25-cm long-stroke chassis are at work in each loudspeaker, which are activated by an integrated power amplifier. This allows them to draw on their own customized power source, accessible without long signal paths, which thus keeps the chassis on a “short leash.”

As a result of the back-to-back configuration, the enclosure experiences only minimal vibrations and distortion is significantly reduced as compared to a single driver, which is subject to more motion. A pleasant side effect of the driver configuration is the slender form of the enclosure with its acoustically optimal baffle. The sound produced by the two membranes together with the sophisticated bass reflex port create an especially even and critical room resonance (modes), making for an extraordinarily pleasant, balanced auditory experience.

Frequency crossover
Every nonlinear component means unwanted distortion. The filters we apply thus adhere to our “lean” philosophy to use as few nonlinear components as possible, with the ones we do use being of highest sound reproduction quality. This intention is only achieved in practice if the loudspeaker chassis to be utilized do not present any flaws that need to be corrected. Because of the exceptionally wideband linear operating chassis, the midrange crossover has only two components and the tweeter only one! The crossover is placed inside the loudspeaker in its own housing in order to prevent undesired microphonic effects and accompanying distortion.

Bass Power Amplifier
A powerful 500 VA toroidal core transformer for each channel establishes the hard-hitting heart of the amplification system of our partially active No 4.1 loudspeaker. While a user provided external amplifier feeds the midrange section of the loudspeaker.

In the bass range we have integrated a customized solution with highest-quality components. Each has a 80,000- micro Farad filtering capacity and a special high-frequency power filter that provides for extremely stable conditions. A refined integrated controller continuously analyzes the membrane movements of the bass chassis, essentially creating a unit with it, and compares the real with the ideal signal movement, which leads to a continuously new, fine-tuned vibration. In contrast to systems adjusted using accelerometers, this occurs in real time and can be compensated for self-resonance as well as for room influences such as waves affecting the membrane, which under other (uncontrolled) circumstances would unavoidably lead to annoyingly exaggerated bass tones. The result is a very deep, powerful, and always exceptionally crisp bass response.

User Controls
Loudspeakers are significantly subject to the fact that the room also makes the music. This is why we have provided for a host of options in order to adapt the Lansche Audio No 4.1 perfectly to not only the listening room, but also to the personal taste of the owner and every particular musical genre. Acoustic balance is important, especially because the CORONA’s incredible resolution demands an appropriately precise counterbalance of substantial body in the lower ranges. To intervene on the active bass, cutoff frequencies of 30, 60, 90, and 120Hz are available and can be adjusted specifically by +/– 9.5 dB. This is accomplished based on the partially active principle and, in contrast to DSPs or equalizers, without influencing the other frequency ranges. The CORONA ion tweeter has its own passive level control, which provides for very fine adjustments.
